Let’s try this again…

I have been absent from updating my blog for quite some time…a year and a half to be exact. Since my last post, I got a job in sales management, I have become a lot more involved in my church, and I still watch Lilah on my days off, amongst other things. Though I never was able to fulfill my Resolution in the allotted time, I still write whenever I can and have completed a first draft of my short story I was working on a while back.

I can also say that there is a collaborative ‘project’ that just started up a few months ago that I will be ‘working on’ (cue the Dr. Evil air quotes) indefinitely. Perhaps this video will better explain it:

OMB Tree Services Commercial

This commercial, as stated in the youtube description, was done in the fashion of one of those late night local ad spots. The idea came to me the night before I was to head to North Georgia to help clear some trees that had just fallen in a storm. I used my Canon HF20 camera to shoot the footage and Final Cut Pro to edit it all together. The finished product differs slightly from the storyboard I created. Since I don’t have any real sound recording equipment (as of yet) I recorded the voiceover portion on my iPhone voice recorder. For some reason, when the video was finished, I could not export it out of FCP in the proper format that youtube accepts without a severe loss of quality. What I ended up doing was exporting it as a quicktime movie, importing it into iMovie, and then using the uploader to upload it onto youtube. Perhaps, I should look into putting my videos on Vimeo.

A special thanks goes out to my wife who agreed to let me film her. (She hates to be filmed/photographed!)
